Yes, housing is available students pursing a graduate degree.
Graduate students may reside in either Pontchartrain Hall or Lafitte Village.
Pontchartrain Halls accepts Delgado, Nunez, and Xavier students. Students interested in housing at Pontchartrain Halls will need to send an email to ResidentialLife@uno.edu with their request, home institution, and student ID # to have an account created for them to apply for housing.

You may choose your roommate by participating in the Roommate Matching process. Please note: dates for the roommate matching process will be published within the Residential Life app. Students who apply close to the start of the semester may not be able to participate in roommate matching if the process has closed. The Office of Residential Life staff will try to accommodate requests, however roommate requests are not guaranteed if space is not available to complete the request.
Also, please be sure to complete the supplemental questions on the application about living preferences so that we can better place you in the event we need to assign a roommate.

Pontchartrain Halls offers multiple lease types discussed below. The full year option is the most affordable with a discount being given during the summer semester housing for students in full year leases. Students who are not in full year leases must pay the $250 interim housing fee for staying on hall between semesters.
Housing at Pontchartrain Halls is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
There is no deadline, but it is recommended that you submit your application as soon as possible.
Applications cancelled after July 1 will incur an additional late cancellation fee of $50 for fall applicants, January 1 for Spring applicants and May 15 for summer applicants.

Students are encouraged to purchase renters insurance for their personal property.

Multiple insurance providers offer low cost renter's insurance; students are also encouraged to speak with their parents/ guardians as some homeowners policies may cover residence hall rooms.

UNO Office of Residential Life, Pontchartrain Hall, 2000 Lakeshore Drive, New Orleans, LA 70148.
Regular mail is not delivered to Pontchartrain Hall. All residents must apply for a postal box at our Campus Mail services. Spring 2023 rental rates for post office boxes are: $20 for 3 months, $30 for 6 months, $40 for 9 months and $50 for 12 months. Check with the Campus Mail Center in the University Center for additional information and to register for your post office box.
Financial Aid will not pay for your application security deposit. The application fee and security deposit are out of pocket expenses.
Financial Aid may be used towards the cost of your housing and meal plan; please note: tuition costs are paid from your Financial Aid awards first, the remainder may be applied to your housing and meal costs.
Students are encouraged to complete the Title IV Authorization Form on the Bursar's Office website to authorize payments via Financial Aid.
Students are assigned with roommates of the same biologically assigned gender disclosed on their university application in their suite.
Students may choose to opt in to "Gender Inclusive Housing" in which is discussed in the question below.
Each floor is coed, but each suite is gender specific. Bathroom facilities are provided in each suite.
First year students who live more than 50 road miles from campus are required to reside on campus in either Privateer Place or Pontchartrain Hall for their first year.

All residents living in Pontchartrain Halls are required to have a residential meal plan.
Meal plan options are available at .
Residents of Privateer Place and Lafitte Village are not required to have a residential meal plan as their accommodations contain full kitchens in each unit.
Gender Inclusive Housing suites in Pontchartrain Hall are designed to provide a comfortable housing option for students whose needs are not met by traditional housing options.
Students must opt into gender inclusive housing in order to participate or be assigned to a gender inclusive suite.
Assignments may include a 2 bedroom unit with a shared bath or a 4 bedroom unit with two shared baths. Suite assignment is based on space availability.
The university and staff do not condone the use of this housing option for romantic couples.
Students are not released from housing agreements due to changes in housing preferences.
To "opt in", all interested students should email their interest in Gender Inclusive Housing to ResidentialLife@uno.edu as Residential Life staff will need to assist with the students' assignment process.
We have three different types of housing agreements.
Students who have an academic year or semester-only lease may incur an additional $250 holdover fee if staying past their assigned checkout date at the end of their housing term.
Winter Break Housing Fee is $300 for the Fall 2023- Spring 2024 Winter Break Period. Students will receive additional information about the process for winter break via their university email account.
Pontchartrain Hall and Lafitte Village communities do feature accessible rooms with roll in showers and additional handles around bathroom features for students needing wheelchair accommodations.
Students are encouraged to coordinate needed requests for disability accommodations with the .

** Effective March 16, 2022: Visitors are permitted 9 am -11:59 pm Monday-Friday, and 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday.
A visitor is defined as any individual who does not live in the Pontchartrain Halls in which they are attempting to enter. Visitors must be registered via the online Visitor Pass process on the
Residential Life app available at myapps.uno.edu.
Once in the Residential Life app, the host will select 鈥淣ew Visitor Pass鈥 from the left hand menu.
Hosts can also be held responsible through the Office of Student Accountability and Disability Services for any violation of the student conduct and/or Residential Life contract. Visitors must also comply with social distancing and Covid-19 risk reduction campus requirements. Any resident can have their visitor privileges revoked indefinitely for their own and/or visitor鈥檚 actions.
Maximum Occupancy of a Suite:
If a resident would like to have an overnight visitor, they must have an overnight visitor pass approved prior to their visitor鈥檚 arrival. The overnight guest pass process is available on the Residential Life app. Requests have to be made 72 business hours (8 AM-4:30 PM) prior to the arrival time. All the resident鈥檚 roommates must agree to the overnight visitor. Stays longer than 2 days will not be approved. Each resident may have only 1 overnight visitor per night.
Residents may have an overnight visitor no more than 2 nights in a week and 5 nights in a month. Minors (between the ages of 16 and 17) will only be allowed to visit if an approved Minor Overnight Guest form has been completed, signed by the legal guardian and submitted to the Office of Residential Life via email at least 48 hours prior to the visit for approval. Minors are only allowed during the weekend and are not allowed during Mardi Gras Holiday.
All entry access points to Pontchartrain Halls are card access only.
Front desks are staffed 24 hours to provide additional support and screening of guest access to the halls.
Students IDs are programmed to provide entry to their suite and individual keys are used to access their bedrooms.
Students are encouraged to keep their doors locked at all times as a safety precaution.

Security cameras are featured in all parking lots, common areas and elevators.
Minor Overnight Guest Policy (effective 2/15/2019):
To enhance the safety and well-being of our community members, a Permission Form for A Minor As A Guest is required for any individual aged at least 16 or older* visiting a 麻豆视频app下载 Residential Life facility without parental or guardian supervision.
Overnight stays for minors are limited to weekends, with the resident accompanying the guest at all times within the residential facility.
During the stay, the guest must adhere to all Residential Life and 麻豆视频app下载 policies, and the resident must secure suitemates' approval beforehand.
Please ensure the completed and signed by the minor鈥檚 parent or legal guardian form and submitted to the Office of Residential Life via email at least 48 hours before the intended visit.
Please note that minors are restricted from visiting during the Mardi Gras Holiday and the preceding weekend.
Any individual under the age of 16 is strictly prohibited from being in Pontchartrain Halls.
Your cooperation in complying with these guidelines is greatly appreciated.

For Fall and Spring semesters, students will be invited to participate in room self- selection within the Residential Life app where the student reviews available suites within the Residential Life app and select their space. If the student is in a confirmed roommate group, one member of the roommate group may make the assignment for the group. Summer semester room assignments are posted within the Residential Life app in early May.
ROOMMATE CHANGE REQUESTS
You may place a request to switch roommates through this . I understand the Office of Residence Life does not accept any requests for relocating a student from a designated room solely based on their discomfort with a roommate's protected status, including race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, ability status, age, veteran's status, religious expression, and socio-economic status. If approved, this request is subject to a $75 cleaning fee, including any damages
WAIT LIST
If you would like to be considered for a 2 or 1 bedroom, you can join the waitlist on the Residential Life App. While on right hand side of your home page, click "Room Selection or Roommate Matching," followed by "Waiting List." The wait list fluctuates the entire semester, so we unable to provide a timeline of when you will be offered a room change.

Yes, while graduate students can live in all three on campus residential communities, most chose to live in our Lafitte Village Graduate and Family housing apartment complex. A majority of the residents within the community are graduate students.

Microwaves can be no larger than 300 watts and refrigerators must be less than 5 cubic feet in order to be allowed in the halls.
Yes! All bicycles must be registered with the Office of Residential Life. Students may submit the request for their bicycle decal through the :
Residential students are required to register their vehicles with the Office of Residential Life EACH semester they live in Pontchartrain Hall.
Students who fail to register their vehicle or who fail to post their decal will receive parking tickets for parking in residential areas.
Students may visit the Parking Office on the second floor of the Computer Center to be issued a residential parking tag.
Pets are not allowed in Pontchartrain Halls.
UNO is committed to provide for the needs of enrolled or admitted students who have disabilities under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA).
Residents requesting an emotional support animal as an accommodation to reside in their assigned bedroom must submit the request and related documentation to the Office of Disability Services for review and approval prior to moving the animal on campus. The animal will not be allowed to reside in Pontchartrain Halls until approved by the Office of Accessibility Services. Please contact Accessibility Services for more information.
ResNet is a free high-speed network service available to the residential community of UNO鈥檚 main campus. ResNet uses dedicated Ethernet wiring and WiFi connectivity to provide each resident an individual connection to the University network and internet. You can use many devices to connect to the resnet secure network, by simply using our instructions to configure your device鈥檚 network settings and entering your UNO student credentials, for gaining ResNet access.

The form is specifically for residents that would like to have a gaming and/or streaming device connect to the ResNet network for use. By completing the form before you arrive to your room, your devices will ready to connect with a few simple instructions.

Your Resident Assistant will assist you and your roommate(s) in a mediation session and it is expected of each resident to respect the community living aspect of Pontchartrain Hall.
If mediation is not successful, then a re-assignment may be considered.
Your Hall Director will review your request for re-assignment after the mediation session is completed.
