About
After earning a BA in elementary education, Dr. Ybos worked as a classroom teacher in St. Tammany Parish for 12 years. During that time, she also assisted district leadership with conducting parish wide workshops for classroom teachers and developing curriculum for upper elementary grades. This inspired her to seek a master鈥檚 degree in curriculum development.
After completing her M.Ed. in curriculum and development, Dr. Ybos was hired as an instructor for UNO in 1989 and has continued to work in various capacities for the university since then. In addition to being an instructor, she has worked as a university supervisor for student teachers, assisted with Teach Greater New Orleans program delivery, and adjunct instructor. She is currently a full-time instructor for Teacher Preparation for the School of Education and coordinator of the math program.
In addition to working for UNO, Dr. Ybos has worked with national programs to develop curriculum and provide professional development for classroom teachers and district personnel. From 1991 until 2012, she worked with the Louisiana Office of Forestry and the National Project Learning Tree staff to provide environmental education workshops to teachers and universities across Louisiana and worked at the national level to write curriculum and align Project Learning materials with national initiatives such as Common Core Standards for all subjects. Additionally, she worked with the National Faculty to develop and deliver workshops to explore content and pedagogy for teaching mathematics and Phi Delta Kappa to develop and deliver workshops on math and science integration. Locally, Dr. Ybos worked with Accelerated Schools to help teachers learn best practices in math education and presented the results of these efforts at national conferences for the group.
